Personal Statement
Question
Personal statement for admission into an online Masters of Legal Studies program at Arizona State University. My GPA is a 2.925 so it was a little bit low to be admitted into the program.

Solution
Personal Statement
Despite my low
undergraduate GPA, I am passionate about learning. Particularly, I am interested
in building law-enforcement agency-related competencies and understanding the
rights of convicted felons and suspected criminals. I am also interested in
building expertise about the penal system’s social goals and how the law varies
from one jurisdiction to another to compete for many criminal justice roles.
Some of my distinctive qualities include integrity, honesty, drive, willpower,
persistence, and grit, all of which are necessary for the successful pursuit of
the Master of Legal Studies program. I am optimistic, and I understand that
some of the greatest success stories began as mere fantastical goals, at times
even seemingly impossible. I am positive; If we landed a human on the moon.
My gifts and
skills, including sporting talents, reflect my spirit, attitude, and abilities.
Although I do not compete in professional sports, I enjoy lawn tennis quite a
lot. It is one of my favorite pastimes. I am also a great debater. I
participate in many discussions and analyses of a political and economic nature
to understand my country and the world. I listen keenly and never deviate from
the topic in my debating endeavors. I attack my opponents with facts and
figures that disprove their suppositions. This ability to debate successfully
comes from a wealth of knowledge about social, political, and economic issues
gained from interacting with others, reading extensively, and considering
blogs, magazines, and social media posts.
My debating
prowess and general and legal knowledge have helped me offer advice to friends
and family about the law. I will gain more skills to succeed in this field by
enrolling in the program. I will develop nuanced comprehension of the criminal
justice system and its practices and policies. It has always been my interest
and one of my greatest successes. I have read many criminal justice books and
have a solid foundation to build further legal knowledge. The more I interact
with the new information, the better I become as a legal expert. I have already
developed a foundation in the legal system and the elements of legal reasoning.
Therefore, focusing on criminal law will be easy. This initial success story is
a pointer to greater achievements and successes in the coming years.
I am also
interested in interacting with new people and learning about diverse cultures.
I want to understand legal principles without necessarily applying them as a
lawyer. Instead, I will apply this information to general life, criminal
components, and legal existence. The program’s flexibility will ensure I have
enough time to study and maintain a vibrant life. I am also interested in
learning conflict resolution, corporate compliance, human resource and
employment law, intellectual property law, and law and sustainability. If
admitted to this course, my certification on graduation will clearly show my
improved expertise and specialized talents.
If life has taught
me anything, it is to move with the flow, taking things with their strides.
Life has also taught me the importance of learning from the experiences of
others. There is a wealth of information to be found in somebody else’s life,
experiences, and challenges. I will need an attentive mind, a never-failing
focus, and a committed self to obtain this knowledge from others. School is one
of the ways of obtaining vital experiences and relations that are positively
transformative and informative. School provides a formal learning environment
where students experiment with ideas and generate new knowledge. They ask
questions and create models for societal improvements. It is a busy and serious
undertaking requiring dedication, continuous improvement, and open-mindedness.
Flexibility is the key to seeing things objectively and generally learning
about life, even in school. It is my most valued experience, one I would guard
jealously.
I believe that my
grades will be better if admitted to this program. My undergraduate performance
was not as good because I spent most of my time focusing on criminal law. I
spent a lot of time reading criminal law books, articles, and news about
ongoing cases. I have read the rulings in many landmark cases and familiarized
myself with the criminal law landscape. I will have better results in my Master
of Legal studies program because this is my area of interest, and I have
already spent a lot of time studying it. With proper scheduling and activity
prioritization, I will less likely fall behind in my professional and career
undertakings with better utilization of information technology. My professional
aspiration is to become a successful legal scholar without practicing as a
lawyer. When I understand the law, I will understand how the law works and the
rights of criminal suspects and felons. My path to success will entail
prioritizing my school work, reading widely, consulting extensively,
collaborating more, and keeping track of my performance to understand areas
requiring improvement. I will achieve success with faculty guidance and support
because I am motivated and driven. I am a success story in the making.
