Capstone Topic Summary: Unit-Based Skin Care Team-Pressure Injury Prevention Program
Implementing the unit-based skincare Team-Pressure injury presentation program is the topic for the Capstone Project change. This program is the proposed topic for the current facility in the oncological unit in the surgical department. The oncological unit caters for people who have cancer-related issues such as skin cancer (Joseph et al., 2019). It is a medical step-down unit and inpatient oncology. In addition, the topic is related to nursing in the healthcare course or department. This is because we are meant to provide the best possible care for every patient as a professional in healthcare or related nursing professionals. This involves dealing with different medical issues which a patient may be experiencing. The practice to the scope is to provide the utmost care for all skin based surgical care with little or no harm. Also, the aim is to provide adequate and professional care for the patients and make them feel at home.
As a medical professional-patient, health always comes first, and all the necessary precautions are put into action to make this possible. Injuries associated with pressure are among the most common adverse events during hospital stays. This requires professional healthcare in dealing with the occurring events, whether in caring for or providing surgeries to the patients with the defects. Applying skin medications also requires professionalism as skin is prone to moistening supplements.
Furthermore, this involves assigning different shifts amongst the specific individuals. This ensures that all dependent patients are appropriately positioned, leading to less chances of pressure injuries amongst the patients in the healthcare departments such as hospitals. Due to this, there will be low incidences in the units.
