The Nursing Theory that
has altered my goals
The nursing idea that has had a
significant impact on my values and objectives in nursing is the Lydia Hall
care cure core theory. The model comprises three circles cure, the care, and
the core, each circle taking a specific symbolic meaning (Alesandra, 2017). The
core refers to the patient, while the cure refers to the medical and nursing
interventions provided by the nurses to help the patient. The care refers to
the nurturing activities provided by the nurses to aid in patient recovery. The
core or the center of the theory Is the patient. All the activities within the
other two circles are mainly to ensure the maximum and perfect patient outcome.
The theory has changed my values and goals because the patient’s welfare comes
first (Alesandra, 2017). Growing up, I always looked forward to helping the
sick, and the incorporation of the theory is a perfect step toward my whole
career.
Application of the care
cure core theory in the execution of the nursing practices.
The theory’s core is the patient who
receives the care from the nurses and other practitioners. Therefore, the
nurses are obliged to provide care to the patients (Alesandra, 2017). The
nurses and other healthcare professionals share the cure circle through
pharmacological and cognitive interventions. The actions are meant for the
general good and to alleviate the patients from their pathological conditions.
The care circle refers to the “motherly” nurturing treatment of the nurses and
medical practitioners (Alesandra, 2017). The activities included here are
mainly meant to increase patient comfort and improve patient adherence to help
achieve the patient’s needs.
How the care cure core
theory fits in the professional Nursing Practice
One of the significant components of
the professional nursing practice is improving the patient’s condition and
alleviating their illnesses. The care cure core theory has the patient as the
theory’s core. The theory is divided into three circles (care, core, and cure)
(Alesandra, 2017). The core and cure theory are all the servants to the core
(patient). Since patient care is the core of the professional nursing practice,
the care cure core nursing theory fits into the professional nursing services.
The
contributions of two historical nursing figures in the nineteenth or twentieth
century.
Florence Nightingale. Florence
Nightingale founded seral hospitals like the St Thomas hospital that she mainly
founded to help train the nurses for perfect execution of the nurses’ roles
(Joyce, 2021). She was also the founder of the polar area diagram that has been
massively embraced in modern nursing to highlight and elaborate on how
sanitation affects mortality.
Margaret Sanger. Margaret sanger is
remembered for her immense effort in founding birth control. The previous centuries
had uncontrolled birth rates, and the population was intensely increasing. Margaret’s
efforts helped to popularize contraception and the birth control clinic in the
U.S. (Joyce, 2021). Additionally, Margaret also played a critical role in
legalizing contraceptives in the United States.
The Difference In the
contributions of Florence Nightingale and Margaret Sanger
Florence Nightingale mainly pioneered
the establishment of medical centers to train nurses in medical competence and
aim to improve the care and treatment according to the patients. Florence also
helped in the designation of the polar area diagram that has been used to
determine how sanitation relates to the death rates (Joyce, 2021). Margaret
Sanger, on the other hand, developed birth control. The reason for the
foundation by Margaret Sanger was to control the global demography.
The influence of Florence
Nightingale and Margaret Sanger in my Professional Nursing Practice.
Margaret Sanger invented birth
control. Some of my patients have massively embraced birth control as a family
planning strategy rather than abstinence in my professional nursing practice.
The present demographical data is an insinuation that the population is
massively increasing, and the strategy forms an effective strategy for managing
the population (Joyce, 2021). Birth control is also applicable for patients
with reproductive system complications.
Florence
nightingale mainly pioneered the establishment of the medical facilities to
train the nursing personnel to execute their roles geared toward patient care.
I have received massive treatment in several nursing expertise to ensure that the
long-term achievement of the patient improvement is achieved (Joyce, 2021). The
contribution has also opened my eyes to encouraging my fellow professionals on
the significance of training.
Functional differences between the State Board of Nursing
and the American Nurses Association (ANA).
The
State Board of Nursing is the regulatory body that grants and enforces nursing
care licensure standards in the states. The body also qualifies the nurses,
provides the nursing scope, and handles the disciplinary matters regarding
violations of the codes of conduct (Cherry et al., 2019). The State Board of
Nursing is in charge of evaluating licensure applications, issuance
of nursing permits, and renewing nursing licenses. It also imposes fines
and penalties for violations.
The
American Association of Nurses is a nursing organization that focuses on the
well-being of nurses. The organization is also on the frontline in promoting equal
care for all (Cherry et al., 2019). Some of the special roles of the American
Nurses Association are; the promotion of high nursing practice standards,
presenting an effective working environment for the nurses, and advocating the
health concerns that affect the function and execution of the nursing roles.
The roles of the American
Nurses Association
The American Nurses Association
promotes high nursing practice standards, provides an effective working
environment for nurses, and advocates health issues that impact the performance
and execution of nursing tasks.
State Board of Nursing Roles
The
State Board of Nursing evaluates the licensure applications, provides licenses
to the nurses, licenses renewal the nurses, and disciplinary measures.
State Board of Nursing influence
in my profession
The
State Board of Nursing is primarily responsible for issuing my operating
license, allowing me to renew it after it expires, and establishing ethical
guidelines for my career path. The American Nurses Association is mainly
charged with providing a conducive working environment while executing our
duties (Cherry et al., 2019). The conducive environment considers reduced harassment,
provides the working standards, and reduces the health issues that can curb me
in my professional service.
Professional license renewal requirements in New Jersey.
According
to the New Jersey Board of Nursing, 30 contact hours after the approved
CE. 30 participation hours in accepted
professional activities, and 320 hours of the confirmed nursing employment
period.
Consequences of failure to maintain license requirements
in my state.
A
license is a legal document that presents my professionalism and working
standards. Failure to maintain the licensing requirements results in the
withdrawal and withholding of the licenses for the already working
practitioners (Cherry et al., 2019). Failure to meet the requirement for the
nurses yet to join work will make them ineligible for the license.
Differences between registered nursing license requirements
in a compact state versus a non-compact state.
For
the compact nursing licensing state, the nurses have the nurses to have the
licenses for multiple states. With the compact licensure, the nurses can
effectively operate in more than one state (Cherry et al., 2019). The
non-compact licensure, on the hand, provides the licensure regulations that
allow the nurses to operate in a single state.
Functional differences between the Food and Drug
Administration and the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services
The Food and Drug Administration is
the regulatory agency in charge of protecting public health by ensuring the
safety of veterinary rigs and other potentially hazardous biological
components. The body promotes health by regulating of supply of food and
compounds containing radiation (U.S. Food and Drug Administration, 2021). The
role of the Food Drug Administration is to market and manufacture tobacco
products to control the sale of tobacco to minors. The body is also responsible
for promoting food security by promoting medication to respond to emerging
health complications.
The
Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services is a monitoring agency in charge of
the Medicaid administration’s healthcare programs and children’s health
insurance plans (U.S. Food and Drug Administration, 2021). Some of the
specialized roles of the organization are the provision of medical services to
more than 100 people and the facilitation of Health Insurance Systems for
children.
Two regulatory agencies influence your professional
nursing practice.
The
Food Drug Administration. The body is in charge of identifying any harmful
substances that may be contained in food and drug substances with a long-term
effect on health promotion (U.S. Food and Drug Administration, 2021). The
regulation activity of the organization ensures that the food products are
safer for consumption, and maintaining nutritional status is the result, which
is one of the reasons I work.
The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
The
body ensures the management of the healthcare programs in Medicaid
administration and the health insurance programs for children. Additionally,
the body promotes universal health through health insurance programs (U.S. Food
and Drug Administration, 2021). Therefore, the organization helps achieve
patient outcomes, which is my mandate while working.
My role as a
patient advocate is to promote safety when a patient has requested to use an
alternative therapy.
Autonomy
is an ethical concern in health. Autonomy states that the patient has the right
to decide on what treatment to be accorded, provided it does not harm them. As
an advocate for promoting patient safety, when a patient requests an
alternative therapy, I will first analyze the safety of the alternative therapy
before subjection of the patient (Cherry et al., 2019). By so doing, I will be
sure that the patient is equally safe in the alternative therapy.
The purposes of the Nurse
Practice Act (New Jersey)
The
primary function of the Nurse-Patient Act is to safeguard patients receiving
nursing care. Competent nursing practice is deeply rooted in well-written laws
that provide the regulatory guidelines while working. Therefore, the Nursing
Practice Act provides the regulatory measures and the codes of conduct for my
work (Cherry et al., 2019). In my professional work, the Nurse Practice Act
ensures that the overall objective of promoting patient health is achieved by
providing regulatory measures.
R.N. scope of practice for an in New Jersey
The scope of the
Registered Nurses in the provision of medical aid aims to diagnose and treat
human complications and issues and alleviate their pain due to health promotion
(Cherry
et al., 2019).
Additionally, the registered nurses provide teaching and awareness services to
the general public and promote patient health.
How my state defines
delegation (New Jersey)
Delegation is the assignment of duties and the needed
activities related to patient care to the responsible personnel while being
accountable for the effects of the assigned activities (Cherry
et al., 2019).
According to the registered nurse’s policy guidelines, the registered nurses
must not delegate tasks related to clinical judgments.
Application of terms in my professional practice
practice
Scientist
Scientists have been involved in the
designation of new modes of handling issues. Nursing sometimes involves the
invention of new management strategies for different conditions.
Detective
Nursing is an investigation of
different responses to several conditions and drugs. The investigation to
identify the favorable response validates the detective role.
Manager
of the healing environment
In
the clinical setting, several medical wastes are released. Therefore, the
nurses must conserve and manage the waste (Cherry et al., 2019). The term “healing
environment” refers to the management and preservation of nature.
American Nurses Association Code of Ethics Provisions
Promoting high nursing standards,
offering a smooth working environment for nurses, and dealing with health
problems that limit the performance and execution of nursing duties.
Effects of American Nurses
Association Code of Ethics on professional practice
ANA provides the regulatory standards
that I require in my daily role execution. With the provision, I am aware
of the dos and the don’ts in my Practice (Cherry et al., 2019). On the other
hand, a healthy working environment ensures that I am not mistreated or
harassed during the execution o my roles.
The nursing error that may occur in a clinical
practice
A poor collaboration among the
members of a healthcare team is a frequent error discovered in a clinical
setting. The error mainly occurs due to limited understanding among the
healthcare providers and other members charged with providing care (Cherry et
al., 2019). Other causes of the error can be poor leadership skills executed by
the leaders.
How the ANA provisions
can affect can be applied in error.
ANA provides the regulatory
strategies for the nurses. The regulatory standards can help promote
collaboration since collaboration is one of the core principles of perfect
execution of the professional nursing practice.
Excellence leadership
traits in nursing.
Innovativeness. Nurses need to see
beyond what is their eyes. Innovativeness makes it easier for the nurses to
solve a problem that occurs within the clinical setup.
Active listening skills. Nursing is
an interactive profession, and the patient, at times, the patient wants to be
heard. Effective listening skills are an excellent skill that can ensure
excellence in nursing.
Strong communicators. Excellent
nurses are, no doubt, good communicators. Therefore, strong communication and communication
skills are a perfect and excellent strategy for excellence in nursing.
Integrity. Every successful leader promise
that integrity is critical in the excellent execution of duties. Integrity is,
therefore, a perfect trait in nursing.
The significance of the
leadership trait as a;
Leader at the bedside. At the
bedside, the patients are, in most instances, overwhelmed by their condition
(Cherry et al., 2019). In such instances, excellent listening skills and proper
communication strategies are practical to promote compassion and empathy to
assure the patient that their situation is shared.
Within the nursing team
Integrity is a perfect strategy that ensures trust
among the team members during the execution of the organizational and nursing
roles.
Impacts on Work Environment
Nursing Leadership
An influential and collaborative
environment promotes practical leadership skills. In contrast, a poor and
uncollaborative environment leads to poor decision-making abilities and thus
poor leadership.
Decision making. An inventive and
innovative working environment promotes proper decision-making skills. However,
an environment that is not innovative will likely inhibit proper decision-making
skills.
Professional development. An
uncompetitive environment leads to poor professional development due to poor
skills that the other team members can borrow.
