Question

Critical Analysis #3: This paper will shift gears slightly by asking you to find an alternate media source that presents information from one of your topic experts. For instance, you might find a podcast that interviews your selected expert, or you might find a TV interview. Perhaps your expert has given a Ted Talk or has made a YouTube video.

There are two requirements to keep in mind for source selection in this case:
1) You must identify an expert from your ongoing research and select a media source that presents information from that expert.

2) The media source you select must be freely accessible without restriction behind a paywall or other barrier.

Connection between Family History and Alcoholism

According to Chris Adams of the National Press Foundation, a family history of alcohol use disorder is considered the most significant risk factor. Genetics is usually the main driver of the disorders related to the use of alcohol. In relation to other types of addictions, the four key components that contribute to the alcohol disorder are genetics, the illnesses that are mentally related, the traumas of early life, and access(Chris, 2011). According to Chris Adams, many theories revolve around the concept of alcoholism and its relationship to the Family History. Family History consists typically of information related to the factor of disorders.

The National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism gives a definition of the use of heavy alcohol as more than the four standards drinks on any single day for the male gender and more than three for the feminine gender(Chris, 2011). The abuse of standards and the mental health services administration, a federal health agency that defines usage of alcohol as binge type of drinking on five or more days in the month. According to Dr. Paul Early, some drinkers can end up becoming casual types of users in their entire lives(Chris, 2011). According to him, the family history is a record of the major medical type of information that concerns the kind of individual and the biological family(Chris, 2011). According to National Press Foundation, the major referral context is the direct type of patients who normally undergo a lot of suffering.

Alcohol has been linked to causing liver problems in the family and outside the family. According to the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse researchers, for a person who comes from a family who used to abuse alcohol, chances are usually high of him turning into an alcoholic(Chris, 2011). About Early, a switch exists within the brain that turns on the brain, which prevents and prohibits an individual from having control over their drinking habits the moment a certain amount of alcohol reaches their system. Early believes that most people don’t slip into drinking alcohol. It is perceived that some have a history in their family that pushes them to be alcoholics (Chris, 2011). Alcoholism is a concept that varies around the globe. According to research, the average consumption of alcohol in the year 2016 was over 6.4 liters per person.

Dr. Early in the video phrases that if someone is in a position of having a parent or a family member who is close and is an addict, then the chances are that the person becomes at a higher risk of having a drinking problem(Chris, 2011). Research findings and studies show that the above group maybe four times more likely to have issues with alcohol than those who do not have the above connection. Dr. Early refers to alcoholism and its connection to the genetic type link (Chris, 2011). According to the studies, alcoholism is approximated to take fifty percent and be attributed to genetics. Lastly, Dr. Early believes that the onset of usage of alcohol and the family history of alcoholism usually end up in some way influencing the risk of a person becoming dependent on alcohol. The family history may end up increasing the risk of predisposal, which leads to developing a disorder of alcohol use.
