Mental Health
Part 1
Mental health involves physiological, emotional, and social wellbeing. It dictates our thoughts, perceptions, feelings, fears, life choices, and how we handle stress and disappointments (Campion et al., 2020). Mental health issues affect our thinking, mood, behavior, and how we relate to others. People who have experienced or are experiencing mental health issues are likely to behave differently from the rest of the world. As a result, mental health is a crucial factor in the life of a human being as well as the well-being of society. Society is likely to be unstable if many people suffer from mental health issues (Campion et al., 2020). Therefore, I am studying in the mental health field to help people stabilize their mentality and eventually see the well-being of society. In the current world, many people are fighting mental health issues brought about by biological factors, life experiences, and family history. Such a menace has caused an increase in crime and instability in society as well as in family settings. Learning how the psychology of a person works is also fun and very informative. It molds your world’s view and enables you to interact with different people because you understand their point of view (Campion et al., 2020). I also love helping people, and the mental health field involves a lot of volunteer work and helping people. Mental health specialists also collaborate with social workers, so I learn a lot from them. Collaborating with social workers will equip me with skills from both fields, increasing my competence. The mental health field also involves working with psychologists, psychiatrists, counselors, and therapists from who I also learned. I can tell what help or specialist a patient needs depending on the severity of their case.

Part 2
One of the most famous mental health facilities is Mental Health America(MHA) which Clifford W. Beers founded in 1909 to handle mental health issues within the community (Mental Health America, 2022). Clifford W. Beers endured so much abuse in his life that he resorted to starting a mental health facility. The facility also advocates for mental health wellness through services, research, education, and creating awareness. Currently, it is the largest community-based mental health facility in America. It has over 200 affiliates and associates all over America; however, its national office is in Alexandria. Mental Health America uses the B4Stage4 philosophy, which focuses more on preventing mental health issues before reaching an unmanageable stage, like cancer, diabetes, and heart diseases (Mental Health America, 2022).
The facility offers diagnosis services, and then patients can get a group or individual treatment or a combination of treatments that works for them. The facility also offers Psychotherapy, a treatment technique that explores the feelings, thoughts, and behavior of the patient and treats the patient to achieve mental well-being (Stoll et al., 2020). Psychotherapy is also coupled with medicines to manage symptoms. Other services include Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Exposure Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Some patients are also hospitalized for close monitoring. Examples of evidence-based practices utilized by this facility include hospitalization to monitor the patient and constant communication with patients to monitor progress. For a person to get treatment at this facility, you only need to show up at the center and see a mental health specialist.
