Solution
Healthcare in the United Kingdom and India
According to Nirula, Naik, & Gupta (2019), in the United Kingdom, health care is run and delivered by the National Health Services (NHS), sponsored by the state. Although the organization has its fair of drawbacks, it has acted as one of the world’s best health care models. The system is supported by a series of government-funded entities with all citizens entitled to Medicare, even though they are also allowed to seek the private sector. India spends more than $ 90 Billion, about 70% of the medical care expenses diverted to the private sector. All Indian citizens are entitled to free Medicare. There is about 17% consisting of outpatient, while 45 comprising of the inpatient numbers. All the health care operations are run under Medicare.
One of the strengths of NHS in the UK is that it is accepted since it strives to offer free health care to all persons irrespective of their ability to pay for their services. That has adequately reduced the mortality rates, incidences of preventable illnesses while also improving the quality levels of medical care. Besides, the Medicare system in India enjoys a huge number of nurses and doctors that is evident from the high number of tourist medical professionals who visit the country (Das, 2017). However, both countries suffer some weaknesses in their health care systems. For instance, the UK faces an acute shortage of health care practitioners. Therefore, those patients with severe conditions are the only ones diagnosed and treated while the others have to wait for long periods. On the other hand, India suffers from healthcare delivery since the citizens have insufficient insurance covers, while the outpatient services are also costly. Moreover, India has also failed to beat their Millennium objectives of providing accessible health care to all the citizens. Moreover, there is a considerable differential dispersion where 75% of medical professionals are located in urban areas while the reserves remain only 36%.
