Your final speech will be a persuasive speech. You will be asked to research a SOCIAL problem in society and to provide a solution to this problem. The focus will be on how it impacts.

Spend the first part of your speech telling us about the problem. How does this affect us? How large is the problem? How many people are affected? Bottom line: Why should we care about this. This is where I would expect to hear LOTS of facts, data, numbers, etc. This is your evidence to convince your audience (and me) that you have a valid argument.

The second half of your speech would then focus on the solution. How can this be fixed? What will it take? Money? How much? Voting in a new law? How would we go about that? You need to discuss EXPERTS and their research. Name them. Who are they? How are they qualified?

You need FIVE research sources on your works cited page. Research sources are not sources you used to find pictures or quotes. Wikipedia is NOT an acceptable source. YouTube is not a research source.
Use the outline template that I attached here and follow the format provided. All of your facts must be on the outline - statistics, names of organizations, experts, etc.
This final bibliography is ANNOTATED. What does that mean? It means along with the properly cited source, you must also include a 150-250 word paragraph explaining why you chose this source. Each annotation should directly follow each source. Do not list all your annotations at the bottom. Show which annotation goes with which source by listing it directly below each source. Why did you choose this source? How does this source aid your presentation? Why do you feel this source is valid and effective for your speech? Why do you consider the research in this source to be sound? Why you felt the statistics were valid, etc.

A. Racism refers to discriminating or antagonizing actions of particular people or ethnic groups based on their settings or membership.

B. Racism ranges from individual acts of hatred to institutionalized racist ideologies that assert racial superiority and influence social and political policy, including laws governing immigration, and slavery.

C. Racism is a vice that should be eliminated since it leads to isolation of other groups, which causes suspicion and might lead to war.

D. Thesis Statement: This paper seeks to discuss the causes, impact, and solutions of racism.

1. Causes of Racism

A. Racist beliefs and behaviors originate from people’s self-interests, like when the Whites kidnapped the Blacks to work as slaves.

B. States and other agencies formulate policies like house laws that segregate others and promote racist beliefs.

C.  The media like TV and social platforms are fond of presenting how people view others, promoting racism and stereotyping (Barber, Paul H., et al, 1440).

D. People are fond of judging and making jokes about others based on their appearances, and cultural practices

2. Impact of Racism

A. Racism causes suffering and despair, which could eventually cause mental and psychological issues among those criticized.

B. Leads to imbalances in terms of opportunities and resources offered to various groups (Grosfoguel, 13).

C. Racism contributes to poverty due to the isolation and marginalization of other groups.

3 Solutions to Racism

A. People are advised to not only appreciate but also celebrate other people’s cultures and traditions (Kirkinis, Katherine, et al, 401).

B. Experts and Human rights organizations like UNICEF that advocate for people’s rights are supposed to be supposed.

C. Children are supposed to be taught kindness, togetherness and to appreciate other people’s differences while young (Devakumar, Delan, et al, 1194).

D. Equitable sharing of regional and national resources will eliminate ethnic profiling.

A. This paper has discussed the causes, impact, and solutions to widespread racism.

B. Racism is caused by people’s self-interests and the media, which exaggerates how people view others.

C. Other people are born with stereotypic behaviors that make them continue judging and discriminating against others based on race.

D. Every individual has a role to play if racism is to end.

E. Regardless of their cultures, professions, and ethnic backgrounds, all people should appreciate one another and condemn any acts of racism.

Racism comes in the form of individual expressions about specific groups and generalizations about all group members. This annotated bibliography discusses racism as a social problem within society based on two articles highlighted below.

The US is an exception for the war against racism, but it is a thorn in the flesh of many nations. In addition, the outbreak of pandemics like COVID 19 contribute to a strain in resources, contributing to social vices like discrimination based on an individual’s race as people vie for unlimited resources.

According to the article, the outbreak of COVID 19 contributed to fear and suspicion among people. These are two aspects that promote the existence of racism and xenophobia. In addition, the pandemic contributed to the presence of both social and political chaos among various ethnic bases contributing to racialization and segregation against the marginalized communities. Nevertheless, the Chinese people were heavily discriminated against when the pandemic was first experienced in Wuhan. The segregation was in various forms, such as violence and restrictions upon them. Conclusively, the research reveals that the welfare of the health care sector cannot be separated from the social environment.

According to the authors of this article, the idea of racism as a fundamental cause is nothing new. However, in recent decades there has been remarkable growth in scientific research examining the many ways that people are affected by it. Subsequently, some have been suggesting this interest was driven partly due to empirical evidence indicating racial or ethnic inequities are not merely manifested out of poverty alone. But rather an intersectional social justice issue rooted deep within our society's history and culture where individuals who belong differently can experience more adversity. That is because they lack privilege over others, which leads them down different paths than those privileged actors do, based solely on their background.

The tales of the Black Lives Matter discriminations and the COVID 19 disease that only kills Blacks and the Latino people shows the need to have resolutions on the end of racial discrimination in all the fields that capture and observe diversity, such as education and technology. In this course, if people condemn racism but continue with their typical prejudice traits, then obviously, the fight against this particular vice will remain stagnant. In this case, every individual within the education system is supposed to acknowledge the role played by students, tutors, and other staff in raising an alert on the perpetuation of these social vices.

Kirkinis, Katherine, et al. "Racism, racial discrimination, and trauma: A systematic review of the social science literature." Ethnicity & Health 26.3 (2021): 392-412.

The authors of this paper aimed to provide a full assessment of the research that shows the relationship between racism and depression among Blacks and people of color. In this case, people can relate and understand why people have their emotional functioning. Racism makes people get dealigned from the usual social relations that make them develop fear, anxiety, and even chaos since they feel disrespected. Moreover, the victims end up developing psychological disorders and mental illnesses due to depression. Conclusively, the study shows that the recent research on the connection between race and trauma contains some gaps because of insufficient measures to find the intensity of all situations related to discrimination.
